Our Accomplishments / Projects French Harbor Medical Clinic Opens To date we have provided various healthcare facilities and individuals throughout the Bay Islands with equipment donated to LFF by Florida Hospital, e.g. ambulance to city fire department. We have also organized specialized volunteer physicians from the U.S., that performed surgery and patient care at our public hospital in Coxen Hole, they also hosted community health seminars and continuing medical education for our medical professionals. Most important of all, we have completed the construction of a new 1700 sq. ft. public healthcare centerin Pandy Town, Oakridge. The facility houses a dental examination suite, primary care services and health education. We also helped equip the new Mount Pleasant Community Health Center in Barrio Los Fuertes this summer. On October 19, 2007, only six months after we opened in Oakridge, the second public health center located in French Harbour was inaugurated. This 2400 sq. ft. facility has all brand new office, dental and medical equipment. It offers equivalent services like that available in Oakridge and has the potential to become an Urgent Care Center in the near future. LFF is working with national and local government officials to adequately assess the needs of our healthcare system. And we are recruiting the assistance of private non-profit charities dedicated to securing a new public hospital for Roatan, so that better healthcare is available to all of the Bay Islands. Dedication services for the NEW French Harbour, Little Friends Foundation Medical Clinic took place on October 19, 2007. In attendance was the Mayor, Dale Jackson, the LFF Board of directors and many other distinguished guests.
